Frontier® Chickweed Herb is a low-growing annual native to Europe that is common fare for chickens, hence the name. This plant has light green leaves, tiny white flowers and small hairs. Chickweed is often prepared as a tea or a soothing ointment or skin cream.
While more credible research studies are needed to confirm exactly how it can impact our health, chickweed has a number of traditional uses in herbal medicine — including reducing inflammation, increasing antioxidant intake, supporting gut health, reducing pain and improving skin health.
To prepare as a tea, pour 8 oz. boiling water over 2 tsp. of herb. Cover and steep 5-10 minutes, strain and serve immediately.
